You are invited to the SDG Philanthropy Platform’s digital side event "Unlocking the full potential of catalytic philanthropic capital for the SDGs" during the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, to be held on September 15, 2021 from 08:00 am to 09:00 am (EST).
The digital event is organized jointly by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Russian Donors Forum, and WINGS, in close collaboration with BRICS government partners.
According to the brand-new SDG Foundation Giving Estimates paper, $651 billion in philanthropic giving for the SDGs could potentially be unlocked by 2030. This accounts for a whopping $286 billion more than the $365 billion in philanthropic giving for the SDGs that was initially estimated back in 2016. Achieving the increased goal in SDG giving will require significant efforts, to support policy, shift donor thinking, unlock capital and educate on the SDGs.

This session will engage high level representatives of governments, development agencies, INGOs, local NGOs and philanthropic communities to discuss experiences, solutions, and initiatives around the world, unlocking the full potential of philanthropy and supporting development of local philanthropy towards more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient societies.
