Ghana's long-term development plan, the 40-year development Plan (2018-2057), will address structural development challenges and presents an opportunity for the country to have a carefully calibrated comprehensive development plan that provides sufficient space for global development commitments, such as the SDGs and African Union’s Agenda 2063. The pillars of the long-term plan are:
- Build an industrialized, inclusive and resilient economy
- Create an equitable, healthy and disciplined society
- Build safe, well planned and sustainable communities
- Build effective, efficient and dynamic institutions
- Strengthen Ghana’s role in international affair.
The current framework medium-term plan, the Ghana Shared Growth and Development Agenda (GSGDA II) covers the period 2014 - 2017. Its underlying thematic areas include:
- Ensuring and sustaining macroeconomic stability
- Enhancing competitiveness of Ghana’s private sector
- Accelerated agriculture modernization and sustainable natural re-source management
- Oil and gas development; Infrastructure and human settlements development
- Human Development, Productivity and Employment
- Transparent, Responsive and Accountable Governance.
