In partnership with the Kenya Community Development Foundation, East African Association of Grantmakers, and the Aga Khan Foundation, the SDG Philanthropy Platform co-founded the Kenya Philanthropy Forum (KPF) to create an avenue for philanthropies to voice their opinions in policy discussions. Today, the Forum has more than 70 foundation members and has become an important player in the local philanthropy sector. KPF has also been invited to attend the UN Development Assistance Framework National Steering Committee meetings, enabling philanthropy to work on national development planning. KPF has formed a sub-group to strategically gather philanthropic data and close knowledge gaps. So far, more than 80 foundations have enhanced their data management capacities. Finally, the Kenya Philanthropy Forum is working on the implementation of the National Education Sector Plan (2013-2018) with the Ministry of Education in Kenya. Foundations and trusts can be effectively leverage their strengths and complementary SDG impacts in this government led multi-stakeholder process.
